Emirates Health Services, represented by its Nursing Department, has organised the "MentorEdge" programme to train professional mentors for nursing and midwifery staff.
The two-day programme was held at the Training and Development Centre in Sharjah, and forms part of the corporation's strategic efforts to invest in human capital and enhance the readiness of its healthcare workforce.
The programme aims to train 110 professional mentors from nursing and midwifery staff across the corporation's facilities by the end of the year, with 50% drawn from Emirati national cadres.
Dr Essam Al Zarooni, Executive Director of Medical Services at Emirates Health Services, affirmed that the programme embodies the corporation's commitment to developing an integrated system for preparing healthcare competencies.
Dr Sumaya Al Blooshi, Director of the Nursing Department at the corporation, also stressed that the programme represents a sustainable strategic investment in fostering a culture of professional mentoring and guidance within healthcare work environments, ensuring systematic support for nursing and midwifery staff at every stage of their professional development in line with best global practices. She added:
"This programme achieves a multiplier effect, as each trained mentor is expected to guide between 5 and 10 nursing staff members throughout their career, making it possible to provide guidance across multiple specialisations to more than 1,000 nurses in the coming years."
