The Emirates Health Services (EHS) Corporation completed more than 20 health infrastructure development projects last year, encompassing the expansion of a number of emergency departments and the construction of strategic medical warehouses, reinforcing the readiness of the health system and supporting the sustainability of services and pharmaceutical supply chains across the UAE's various emirates.

According to a report issued by the Federal National Council, these projects form part of the corporation's ongoing efforts to develop its health facilities and raise their operational efficiency, as it continued last year to operate and develop 130 health facilities distributed across the country's various emirates.

The report noted that the UAE in 2025 strengthened the health sector's readiness and raised its operational and proactive capacity, in a manner that supports the sustainability of health services and enhances the system's ability to respond to future changes and challenges.

The report clarified that actual spending on the health sector reached approximately 5.62 billion dirhams last year, representing 8.15% of total public expenditure. The country also advanced to 33rd place globally in the health and environmental infrastructure index according to the Global Competitiveness Report for 2025, a gain of two places compared with 2024.

The report affirmed that these efforts, alongside the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State — may God preserve him — to adopt a comprehensive national health insurance system covering all the country's emirates, have contributed to strengthening national health readiness and consolidating a more sustainable and integrated health model that places people at the forefront of priorities and supports quality of life and societal stability.

The Federal National Council stressed the importance of continuing to develop specialised, rehabilitative, home-based, and digital health services, and of enhancing their geographical distribution, so as to ensure the delivery of integrated and balanced services that meet the needs of citizens across the country's various emirates.
