At the direction of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, the Emirates Red Crescent and the Ministry of Community Empowerment, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, have announced the continuation of maintenance services for early fire alarm systems — known as "Hassantك" — for families benefiting from social support across the emirates, with the aim of enhancing community protection and preserving lives and property.

The directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan reinforce the UAE's efforts in the area of quality of life, which tops the country's government agenda, and align with the objectives of the "Year of the Family 2026", aimed at consolidating the family's standing and enhancing its stability and cohesion.

The initiative also falls within the Emirates Red Crescent's domestic humanitarian programmes, which seek to provide the essentials of a dignified and safe life for families benefiting from the social support programme. Sheikh Hamdan directed that the initiative be supported with 10 million dirhams (AED), enabling more than 25,000 families across the country to benefit.

Maintenance of safety and alarm devices will begin during 2026, with the families bearing no financial burden related to the devices, their maintenance, safety equipment, or annual subscription fees, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The Ministry of Community Empowerment will work with the Emirates Red Crescent and relevant authorities across the emirates to conduct a comprehensive survey of the targeted families nationwide, carry out field visits and technical studies, and complete the project during 2026. The Ministry of Community Empowerment believes in the importance of partnership with various entities in a way that enhances complementary roles in developing the social support system — moving beyond meeting basic needs towards a more comprehensive model grounded in support, empowerment, preventive protection, and improved quality of life — in line with its vision of building a cohesive society empowered by the capabilities of its members, and cementing the family's role as an essential partner in the journey of sustainable development.
