The Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation between the two parties in the field of environmental protection, thereby contributing to the development of the environmental work system and supporting sustainable development targets.

The MoU represents an institutional framework for joint action in the environmental field, encompassing the exchange of studies, research, and technical expertise, the development of environmental policies and initiatives, and the enhancement of the efficiency of nature reserve and natural resource management. It also covers the implementation of environmental awareness programmes and community initiatives, in a manner that supports the adoption of best practices and reinforces the long-term impact of environmental efforts across both emirates.

In this context, Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Director General of the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, said: "Cooperation between government entities is a fundamental pillar for advancing environmental work and achieving a sustainable impact that extends across the country."

"From this standpoint, this partnership with the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department embodies our commitment to unifying efforts and leveraging national expertise to enhance the readiness of our environmental system to meet climate challenges, and to support the United Arab Emirates' aspirations toward realising its national vision and international commitments."

For his part, Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, said: "Achieving sustainability begins with developing institutional work, but it ultimately reflects on the quality of life and the communities we serve. We see in this cooperation an opportunity to exchange expertise and develop initiatives that contribute to the preservation of natural resources and the promotion of environmental awareness, delivering added value to society."

This MoU falls within the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority's approach of expanding its strategic partnerships with government entities across the country, contributing to the unification of efforts and the integration of roles to develop the environmental work system and enhance the capacity to protect nature for future generations.
