The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority held a meeting with the Al Rahmaniya Suburb Council to discuss ways to develop infrastructure and improve service levels in support of sustainable development in the area.

The meeting covered a number of proposed quality projects, including the construction of new internal roads with a total length of approximately 12 kilometres to connect residential neighbourhoods to main arterial routes, at an estimated cost of 45 million dirhams (AED); the development of a smart lighting network through the installation of more than 800 modern lighting units over an implementation period of 18 months; and the improvement of rainwater drainage systems at a budget of approximately 20 million dirhams.

The meeting also addressed the construction of dedicated pedestrian and cycling paths spanning 8 kilometres, at an estimated cost of 10 million dirhams, with the aim of enhancing traffic safety and raising quality of life. Both parties agreed to prepare detailed traffic studies within a period not exceeding 6 months to determine implementation priorities in accordance with residents' needs.

Both sides affirmed the importance of continued coordination to implement these projects within a defined timeline of 2 to 3 years, with periodic follow-up every 3 months on completion milestones, in a manner that keeps pace with rapid urban growth and enhances infrastructure efficiency.

The Authority also announced a temporary traffic diversion on the road between University City and the Institutes Area, as part of the roads project leading to the Etihad Railway station, during the period from 4 July to 23 August 2026, within development works estimated at a total cost of approximately 30 million dirhams.

The Authority called on road users to adhere to alternative routes and safety instructions to ensure smooth traffic flow during the implementation period.
