His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, has affirmed that parliamentary work is a fundamental pillar in the country's development journey and one of the foundations upon which the vision of the wise leadership rests — to entrench the principle of shura and enhance the genuine political participation of citizens in national decision-making.

Speaking on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism, His Excellency said: "Thanks to this sound vision, our parliamentary experience has presented a purely national model built on cooperation between the government and the Federal National Council — to serve the nation, achieve the interests of citizens, and fulfil their aspirations. The United Arab Emirates has proven that parliamentary institutions founded on a proactive vision, grounded in an authentic set of national principles and values, are among the most important pillars supporting the country's comprehensive development journey and enhancing its ability to face challenges and overcome difficulties with full confidence and steadfastness."

Complementarity and cooperation

His Excellency noted that, stemming from a firm belief in the importance of the Federal National Council as a supporting, guiding, and reinforcing authority for the federal government, the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs continues its role in promoting complementarity and cooperation between the government and the Federal National Council, developing awareness of parliamentary life and political participation — in a manner that supports the country's parliamentary journey and enhances the state's standing at both the regional and international levels.
