His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, has affirmed that relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India rank among the world's strongest and most dynamic partnerships, built on solid foundations of trade, investment, and shared values, in addition to the pivotal role played by the Indian community in supporting various sectors within the country.
This came during his inauguration of the annual conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – Dubai chapter. His Excellency stressed that "resilience" represents a core value rooted in self-confidence, trust in institutions, and the capacity to manage risks and make decisions under difficult circumstances, noting that the UAE embodies this concept through the stability of its institutions, the strength of its economy, and the unity of its society in the face of challenges.
He affirmed that this approach is the product of wise leadership and long-term investment in people and institution-building. He also highlighted the importance of the role of chartered accountants as a pillar in strengthening confidence in the economy, stressing the necessity of keeping pace with technological transformations such as artificial intelligence, digital finance, and sustainability, while preserving professional values such as integrity and wisdom.
For his part, Dr Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of the Republic of India to the UAE, affirmed that his country has today become the fifth-largest economy in the world, with a gross domestic product exceeding $4.4 trillion and an annual trade volume of approximately $1.8 trillion.
He shed light on the strength of the UAE-India partnership as a story of success and resilience, noting that bilateral trade has exceeded $100 billion annually over the past two years, and praised the role of the Indian community as a vital bridge reinforcing these relations.
The conference concluded with an emphasis on the importance of the accounting profession in building economic trust, alongside presentations of inspiring experiences on resilience and innovation, including the story of Indian artist Mahima Chaudhry and her personal journey of recovery and perseverance.
