The UAE Public Prosecution yesterday organised the first edition of the 'Destination 2045+' forum, under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency Counsellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney General of the Federation, with the participation of Her Excellency Mariam bint Ahmed Al Hamadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Cabinet.

The forum was attended by Her Excellency Huda Al Hashimi, Assistant Minister for Cabinet Affairs for Strategy, along with a distinguished group of judicial leaders, experts, and specialists, as part of the Public Prosecution's efforts to anticipate the future of criminal justice and enhance the readiness of the judicial system to keep pace with global transformations and emerging technologies.

The forum served as a strategic platform for dialogue and future foresight, addressing the most significant global trends affecting the criminal justice system, the future of criminal justice amid rapidly accelerating technological developments, and international competitiveness indicators related to the rule of law, governance, and digital justice.

It also covered the opportunities and challenges associated with deploying advanced Agentic AI technologies within judicial and criminal justice systems and services.

His Excellency Counsellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney General of the Federation, affirmed that the United Arab Emirates has established a leading global model in anticipating the future and preparing early for major transformations, noting that the criminal justice system represents one of the vital sectors requiring long-term vision and a continuous capacity to evolve and adapt to global changes.

He said: "The Destination 2045+ forum embodies the Public Prosecution's commitment to building a criminal justice system that is more prepared, resilient, and proactive — one capable of keeping pace with future transformations and harnessing modern technologies and artificial intelligence in ways that strengthen the rule of law and safeguard the rights of individuals and society."

For his part, Counsellor Salem Al Zaabi, Chief Prosecutor at the Attorney General's Office and Head of the Support Services Sector, explained that the Public Prosecution has begun implementing a comprehensive roadmap for deploying advanced artificial intelligence technologies within the strategic targets of the AI Strategy 2025–2030, in alignment with the state's direction towards employing advanced technologies in the development of governmental and judicial work.

Amira Al Wahshi, Director of the Strategy and Future Department at the UAE Public Prosecution, affirmed that the forum forms part of an integrated system of strategic initiatives linked to future foresight and the development of institutional readiness.
