Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, yesterday held a phone call with his brother Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the sisterly State of Qatar, during which he expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy on the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

He also extended his condolences to all members of the esteemed Al Thani family, praying that the Almighty would enfold the deceased in His vast mercy and forgiveness, and grant his family and loved ones patience and solace. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his part, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the UAE President for the warm brotherly sentiments he conveyed.

In a separate development, the UAE President yesterday received a phone call from Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, during which the two leaders discussed various avenues of cooperation and ways to enhance them within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership binding the two countries.

Both sides affirmed, during the call, their mutual keenness to continue joint efforts to achieve the goals of this partnership in a manner that serves their common interests and brings prosperity and progress to their two peoples.

The two sides also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, foremost among them the developments taking place in the Middle East region and their repercussions for regional security and stability, international navigation security, and the efforts being made in that regard.
