The Sharjah Charity Association implemented 11,051 humanitarian and development projects and campaigns outside the country during the first half of this year, at a total cost of AED 139.8 million, encompassing construction, education, health, relief, and seasonal projects across a number of beneficiary countries.
Mohammed Rashid bin Biat, Vice Chairman of the Association's Board of Directors, said the results reflect an expansion in the scope of humanitarian work and the channelling of donors' contributions towards projects with a sustainable impact, alongside responses to urgent relief needs.
He explained that the projects included the construction of 1,278 mosques at a cost exceeding AED 62.4 million, 7,866 well-drilling projects valued at AED 30.2 million, in addition to the establishment of 13 schools, 107 classrooms, and an integrated residential village.
On the relief and seasonal front, the Association delivered 443,000 iftar meals for fasting individuals valued at AED 4.4 million, and 22,358 sacrificial animal projects valued at AED 7.5 million, alongside the distribution of food baskets and dates.
The Association also implemented 4 medical clinics and 4,309 eye disease treatment operations, in addition to other health projects. Developmental projects included 804 productive projects, 45 charitable endowment shops, 64 homes for families in need, and 17 service complexes and centres.
Bin Biat affirmed that the Association focuses on combining urgent assistance with long-term development projects, contributing to sustainable solutions and improved conditions for beneficiaries, while monitoring project implementation to ensure objectives are met.
