The Federal National Council group at the Arab Parliament, chaired by His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Al Yamahi, head of the group and President of the Arab Parliament, participated in the closing session of the second sitting of the fourth legislative term of the Arab Parliament, held yesterday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.

The Federal National Council group included Naema Abdullah Al Sharhan, Deputy Head of the group and member of the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural Affairs, Women and Youth; Majed Mohammed Al Assam, member of the Committee on Legislative, Legal Affairs and Human Rights; and Mohammed Hassan Al Dhahouri, member of the Committee on Financial and Economic Affairs.

During Naema Al Sharhan's presentation of the Social Affairs Committee report, she affirmed the importance of the Arab Parliament Youth Forum, which has received the endorsement and approval of the Bureau and whose working mechanism is currently being prepared.

She noted that countries are competing to provide support for youth projects, viewing young people as an active and influential element in the journey of development and the shaping of the future. She stressed the need to adopt working mechanisms that contribute to supporting and empowering Arab youth, enhancing their role across various sectors and enabling them to contribute effectively to achieving sustainable development across the Arab world.

Mohammed Al Dhahouri, during the presentation of the Financial Affairs Committee's work at the session, affirmed that the Arab region is passing through one of the most dangerous phases in its modern history, and that Iran's treacherous aggressions against Arab states are no longer isolated incidents or reactions, but have come to reflect a systematic strategy targeting the infrastructure of states, threatening the lives of civilians, and destabilising regional and international economic stability.

He added that these aggressions constitute a flagrant violation of the principles of international law relating to state sovereignty and the security of their citizens, and have systematically targeted vital infrastructure and civilian facilities.

He called on the Arab Parliament to adopt positions that can be translated into actionable mechanisms, including the establishment of an independent international investigation mechanism to verify documented violations and refer them to the UN Security Council, the development of an Arab collective security framework commensurate with the nature of current threats, and the provision of special legal protection for peaceful nuclear facilities in coordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency, ensuring that targeting them is classified as a war crime.
