The Federal National Council group at the Arab Parliament, headed by His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, chairman of the group and president of the Arab Parliament, participated in the Arab Parliament's committee meetings held yesterday at the headquarters of the Arab League in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Yamahi chaired the meeting of the Palestine Committee, which discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian front, as well as the meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs and National Security, which examined political and security developments in the Arab region and ways to strengthen Arab parliamentary efforts in support of regional security and stability.
Within the work of the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural Affairs, Women and Youth, Naema Al Sharhan chaired the meeting of the subcommittee concerned with developing e-learning in the Arab world, affirming the importance of continuing joint Arab parliamentary efforts in following up on social, educational and cultural issues, as well as issues relating to women and youth, in a manner that contributes to developing legislative frameworks supporting sustainable development and enhancing the exchange of expertise among Arab countries.
She also underscored the importance of the model bill for promoting mental health in educational institutions, which is being examined by the Social Affairs Committee.
She proposed that the bill include the establishment of psychological support units in educational institutions, the adoption of early intervention programmes and screening for psychological disorders, the development of mental health indicators, and the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in early detection while ensuring privacy protection, in addition to the preparation of an Arab guide to best practices and the creation of an Arab platform and Arab observatory for school mental health to enhance the exchange of expertise and support decision-makers.
