Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Joseph Aoun, President of the Lebanese Republic, discussed yesterday in a phone call the brotherly relations between their two countries, the various aspects of cooperation and joint action, and the commitment to continuing to develop them in a manner that serves the interests of both nations and brings prosperity to their two fraternal peoples.

The call addressed the latest developments in Lebanese affairs, and the efforts being made to consolidate Lebanon's security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The Lebanese President expressed his gratitude to the UAE President and appreciation for the United Arab Emirates' brotherly stance toward Lebanon and its people, wishing the country continued progress.

The two sides also reviewed a number of regional issues and files of mutual interest, foremost among them the developments taking place in the Middle East, affirming in this context the importance of continuing to work toward strengthening the foundations of stability and security, and pushing forward the path of peace in the region for the benefit of all its peoples and the development and prosperity of their countries.

The United Arab Emirates also welcomed the announcement by Lebanon and Israel of reaching a trilateral framework agreement, under the sponsorship and support of the United States, and commended the diplomatic efforts made by US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in facilitating the conclusion of this agreement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed in a statement its hope that this development would represent a positive step toward strengthening an environment conducive to regional stability, affirming the importance of continued effective international coordination to prevent further escalation and avoid its humanitarian and security repercussions in the region.

The Ministry stressed the United Arab Emirates' full solidarity with the Lebanese state and its support for it during this critical phase that Lebanon is going through, including support for efforts to confine weapons to state authority and dismantle terrorist organisations, describing this step as a pivotal milestone on the path to consolidating national security and stability.

The United Arab Emirates also reaffirmed its firm commitment to supporting Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its enduring support for the fraternal Lebanese people, in a manner that contributes to realising their aspirations for security, stability, development, and prosperity.

The two sides also discussed the overall current regional developments and the situation in Lebanon, particularly in the wake of the announcement of the signing of a framework agreement, under the sponsorship and support of the United States of America, between the Lebanese government and the Israeli government.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed the signing of this agreement, commending the efforts of both the Lebanese and Israeli governments that led to its conclusion, and praising the role played by the United States of America in sponsoring and supporting this agreement in a way that contributes to enhancing security and stability in the region.

He also affirmed the United Arab Emirates' full support for all efforts aimed at achieving lasting security and stability in the fraternal Lebanese Republic, and stressed the UAE's full support for Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and for everything that achieves prosperity and well-being for its fraternal people.
