The 'Digital School', one of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, celebrated the completion of a new phase of the Digital School project in Jordan in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and with support from the Emirates Red Crescent Authority. The project targets more than 11,000 male and female students as part of a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of education and equipping schools, teachers, and students with future-ready skills.
The new phase included empowering more than 800 male and female teachers and administrators from 15 public schools through the 'Digital Teacher Programme', implemented by the Global Academy for the Digital Teacher in partnership with Arizona State University, alongside the development of integrated digital learning environments within schools and the training of 300 male and female students in the fundamentals of artificial intelligence.
The project also involved developing digital infrastructure in the participating schools by equipping them with a comprehensive package of educational technologies and devices, including 160 laptops, 59 tablets, 6 smart screens, and 45 projectors, thereby enhancing the schools' readiness to implement digital education and blended learning models.
This enables students and teachers to benefit from the interactive educational content provided by the Digital School platform, which is designed to support curricula for grades one through twelve.
During a field visit to a number of the beneficiary schools, a delegation from the Digital School and the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, accompanied by Dr. Nawaf Al-Ajarma, Secretary-General for Educational Affairs at the Jordanian Ministry of Education, reviewed the outcomes of the project and the experiences of teachers and students in applying digital solutions within the educational process. The visit also featured the honouring of distinguished schools, teachers, and teams involved in implementing the project.
The tour also included discussion sessions with school leadership, teachers, and students, during which their experiences, observations, and development proposals were heard, in support of the project's continuous improvement and the enhancement of its impact in future phases. A special ceremony was held at the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Centre for Educational Technology and Information to celebrate the project's achievements and recognise the efforts of the participating parties.
Distinguished schools and high-performing male and female teachers in the Digital Teacher Programme were honoured, in addition to the work teams that contributed to the implementation and success of the project. Dr. Walid Al Ali, Secretary-General of the Digital School, affirmed that the partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Education translates the Digital School's mission and vision that real transformation in education begins with the teacher.
He added that investing in the teacher represents the fundamental pillar for building educational systems that are better prepared for the future, noting that digital education and artificial intelligence have become an essential part of preparing coming generations for a rapidly changing world.
