Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, yesterday inaugurated the university's Innovation Centre, established under the strategic partnership between the University of Sharjah and the e& Group.
His Highness pressed a tablet to unveil the centre's building, marking its official opening. He then watched an interactive demonstration of an advanced artificial intelligence robot stationed at the centre's entrance, which offers a range of services using the latest AI models and high-performance computing. The robot welcomed His Highness and those in attendance, and presented an introductory overview of the centre and the services it provides to students, researchers, and visitors.
The President of the University of Sharjah toured the centre's facilities, familiarising himself with its various laboratories and manufacturing workshops, and listening to detailed explanations of the latest technologies, smart systems, and AI-powered robots. During the tour, His Highness also watched a live demonstration of the centre's most advanced digital manufacturing technologies.
At the conclusion of the tour, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi received a commemorative gift — a three-dimensional scale model of the university's main building, produced at the centre to mark the inauguration. His Highness also presented a commemorative gift to the e& Group, and commemorative photographs were taken.
Separately, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, yesterday witnessed the launch of Madar for Media, the commercial and creative arm of Sharjah Media City (Shams), specialising in the development and production of media and creative content, at the city's headquarters.
His Highness was briefed on Madar for Media and its strategic directions, which aim to strengthen the media and creative industries ecosystem in the emirate of Sharjah, support the economic sustainability of the media sector, and open new horizons for talented individuals and promising media ventures, as well as on its vision and future plans.
In a further development, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, yesterday witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sharjah Media City (Shams).
The memorandum also encompasses the Central Finance Department and Sharjah Islamic Bank, and was signed at the city's headquarters. The MoU was signed by Omar Obaid Al Hassan Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Rashid Abdullah Al Owais, Director General of Sharjah Media City (Shams).
