The Ministry of Education has called on parents to participate in a comprehensive survey to evaluate canteen services in schools and kindergartens, with the aim of assessing the quality of food services provided to students and drawing on the views of beneficiaries to improve them, in a way that promotes school health and provides a higher-quality and safer learning environment.
The Ministry confirmed, in a circular addressed to government schools, that the evaluation is part of its ongoing efforts to monitor the performance of school canteens and improve the level of services provided to students, by involving parents in the assessment process as essential partners in supporting the quality of school life and promoting healthy dietary habits among children.
It explained that the evaluation aims to collect accurate data and indicators on the current state of school canteen services, and to capture parents' opinions, observations, and suggestions regarding the quality of food and meals offered, service standards, and the diversity of food options, in addition to measuring the level of satisfaction among beneficiaries with the services provided within schools.
The Ministry noted that the findings will contribute to building a comprehensive database that helps monitor the performance of canteen operating companies, identify areas in need of improvement, and support future planning and development processes, thereby raising the quality of food services provided to students in line with best practices.
Schools were directed to circulate the survey link to parents, along with the school's data and the name of the supply company responsible for operating the canteen, to ensure the accuracy of information and link evaluation results to each school individually, enabling a more comprehensive and objective assessment of services.
The Ministry affirmed that parental participation in the evaluation represents an important pillar in developing the school canteen system, as their opinions and observations support efforts to improve food quality, reinforce compliance with health and nutritional requirements, and positively impact the health and safety of students.
This initiative falls within the Ministry of Education's broader commitment to promoting school health and raising the efficiency of support services within schools, in alignment with the goals of providing an integrated educational environment that supports students' academic achievement and their physical and psychological well-being, by offering healthy and safe food options that meet the needs of different age groups and keep pace with the best adopted standards in school nutrition.
The evaluation also reflects the Ministry's approach of fostering a culture of continuous improvement and relying on feedback from the educational field and parents to develop services, thereby ensuring the sustained quality of school canteens, achieving the highest levels of satisfaction among students and their families, and supporting national efforts aimed at entrenching healthy lifestyles within the school community.
