The University of Dubai will begin accepting applications for full scholarships from outstanding students for the new academic year 2026–2027, under its annual scholarship named after the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, from 10 to 17 July.

The scholarships — 3 full grants in total — are offered in tribute and commemoration of the late Sheikh, who led a career marked by giving at the national level, particularly through his continuous support for charitable projects, distinguished educational performance, scientific research, and health programmes, as well as his generous contributions to the University of Dubai and his annual support for students in financial need through the Al Maktoum Charitable Foundation.

The university announced the opening of registration and scholarship applications for high achievers, and designated the toll-free number 800863 for communication with applicants registering for these and other scholarships it offers annually.

The university funds these annual full scholarships entirely from its own resources for students who achieved a grade of 98% or above in their secondary school leaving certificate. The scholarships are allocated for undergraduate study in the following disciplines: Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electrical and Communications Engineering, and Law.

Dr Essa Al Bastaki, President of the University, affirmed that the university, which upholds the motto and goal of "quality education" in the United Arab Emirates, is committed to linking these educational and academic scholarships to the principle of "academic excellence." He said the university is honoured to name them the annual "Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid" scholarship, noting that the university will cover full tuition fees each year for four academic years for every outstanding student who merits the award.

Dr Al Bastaki congratulated secondary school students on their success and high achievement despite the circumstances and challenges facing the world, and welcomed them to the University of Dubai.

He said that the university, preparing to receive its students for the new academic year, continuously works to develop its programmes and the specialisations it offers, and has launched a number of new bachelor's programmes starting from the new academic year in September, in line with the wise and enlightened directives of the UAE's political leadership to look ahead to the future and ensure these programmes and specialisations meet the needs of the labour market now and in the future — all of which are accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in addition to international academic accreditations.

He noted that the university always strives to attract outstanding students of all nationalities, and in this context has allocated full scholarships for UAE national students to study at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, discounts for high-achieving students, and numerous scholarships for various categories.
