The summer programme organised annually by Dubai Police General Command has recorded remarkable demand, with the number of those wishing to register electronically exceeding 145,000 — an indicator reflecting families' confidence in the security and educational programmes directed at students during the summer holiday. Feedback has also shown a decline in negative behaviours and a rise in security awareness.

This came during a press conference held by Dubai Police General Command to announce the launch of the 2026 Student Summer Programme, which runs until 30 July under the slogan "Our Summer: Safety and Happiness… Innovation and Leadership". The programme is organised by the General Department for Drug Control, represented by the International Protection Centre, in partnership with a number of entities, general departments, and police stations.

This year's courses target approximately 1,400 male and female students from 130 government and private schools, representing 31 nationalities, within a programme framework that combines security, sports, skills, and awareness training.

Brigadier Nasser Hamid Al Zari, Deputy Director of Dubai Police Academy, affirmed Dubai Police General Command's ongoing commitment to supporting and organising summer programmes and activities for schoolchildren at the end of the academic year. The aim is to make productive use of students' time, deepen their sense of national identity, promote respect for systems and laws, and instil values of loyalty to the wise leadership.

He added that the goal is also to prepare a generation of young people with a high level of awareness and understanding of the importance of risks and challenges, and how to deal with them professionally and responsibly, so as to keep them from falling into such situations and exposing themselves to legal accountability. He noted that the military training component this year will incorporate new and innovative methods suited to all ages and levels.

Brigadier Issa Ahmed Salem, Director of Al Muraqabat Police Station and representative of the General Department of Police Stations, said that building a student's character requires the concerted efforts of all institutions on a scientific basis capable of producing a new generation of students who will carry the torch of leadership, in addition to applying a scientific methodology in implementing the diverse summer programmes that instil many noble concepts and values in students.

Brigadier Dr. Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Muairi, Director of the International Protection Centre, said the summer courses this year will be distributed across 12 training centres, including 8 centres for comprehensive courses that encompass sports and military training.

These will also include awareness lectures, training workshops, and field visits, held at the Zayed Educational Complex in Wadi Al Mataena, Al Khawaneej, Al Warqa, Al Barsha North, Al Barsha South, Asma bint Al Numan School, and Hatta School. The remaining 5 centres are dedicated to specialist courses covering diving, swimming, the Junior Security Responder (901), the Promising Investigator, and Future Leaders.

He explained that this year's summer programme will include support initiatives in a number of fields, among them horse care, police dog care, the Future Leaders programme, jet-ski riding, cycling, and visits to the Hatta Library and the Smart Police Station in Hatta.

Brigadier Abdulrahman Al Muairi also reviewed the results of last year's 2025 summer courses, in which 1,136 male and female students from 31 nationalities participated across 21 training centres.

Students' time is invested in specialised training in diving, swimming, and police work, as part of efforts to prepare a generation of young people with a high level of awareness and knowledge.
