The American University of Ras Al Khaimah has approved substantive updates to 10 academic programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, following approval by the UAE's Academic Accreditation Commission, in a move aimed at aligning the programmes with labour market requirements and future-oriented sectors. The changes will take effect from the autumn 2026 semester.

Professor Bassam Alam Al Din, President of the University, said the updates represent a strategic step to enhance the quality of education and link academic programmes to labour market needs, noting that the university aims to prepare graduates who possess technical skills, intellectual flexibility, and the ability to lead future transformations.

The university has introduced a Medical Laboratory Technology specialisation within the Biotechnology programme, along with three new specialisations in the Psychology programme: Counselling Psychology, Business Psychology and Leadership, and Neuropsychology and Artificial Intelligence.

It has also added an Entrepreneurship specialisation to the Business Administration programme, and developed the Finance and Marketing specialisations into 'Finance and Financial Technologies' and 'Digital Marketing Management' respectively.

The university has introduced a Cybersecurity specialisation within the Computer Science programme, and an Aviation Electronics and Aviation 4.0 specialisation within the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme, in addition to adding an Industrial Engineering specialisation to the Mechanical Engineering programme.

The university has also restructured its MBA, Sustainable and Renewable Energy, and Engineering Project Management master's programmes through more flexible study plans and updated curricula that integrate artificial intelligence applications, sustainability, innovation, and data analytics, while also making it possible to complete the MBA programme within one year.
