The Ministry of Education has announced that applications are now open for the 'UAE Young Scientist' competition and the 'Little Innovators' challenge, as part of the National Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation 2026. The initiative aims to discover students' scientific and innovative talents and develop their capabilities in research, innovation, and creative thinking.
The ministry affirmed that the two competitions represent a national platform for showcasing students' projects and scientific ideas, and for promoting a culture of innovation and scientific research among younger generations, in line with the United Arab Emirates' drive to prepare a generation capable of competing globally in science and technology.
The 'UAE Young Scientist' competition aims to encourage students to prepare and present research and innovation projects across a range of scientific fields, including technology, biological and environmental sciences, chemical, physical and mathematical sciences, as well as behavioural and social sciences.
The ministry noted that registration for the competition is open until 14 July 2026, and targets students in grades 5 through 12 in government schools, private schools, and applied technology schools. Students wishing to participate are invited to contact their school supervisors to complete the registration process.
The ministry also announced that registration for the 'Little Innovators' challenge is open until 15 September 2026. The challenge targets kindergarten students and those in grades 1 through 4 in government and private schools, with the aim of developing creative thinking skills, problem-solving, and teamwork through interactive activities and challenges suited to their age groups.
The ministry affirmed that participation in both competitions gives students the opportunity to develop scientific research and innovation skills and to transform ideas into real-world projects, while fostering a spirit of positive competition and teamwork — contributing to the preparation of a generation of innovators and scientists capable of supporting the nation's development journey.
The ministry called on parents and students to make the most of the opportunity and to register promptly by coordinating with school supervisors, reaffirming its commitment to providing a stimulating environment that nurtures scientific talent, hones students' abilities, and showcases their creativity at the national level.
