His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen international cooperation in the water sector and support efforts to develop a global water governance framework.
During the meeting, H.E. Al Tayer affirmed that the United Arab Emirates, under its wise leadership, adopts an integrated approach to managing natural resources that balances the requirements of sustainable development with environmental preservation, through the deployment of the latest technologies and innovative solutions.
He presented DEWA's comprehensive roadmap for enhancing sustainable water management, in alignment with the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy for Energy and Water 2050, which aims to consolidate Dubai's standing as a global model for energy and water efficiency.
He explained that the strategy focuses on the optimal use of resources and the adoption of the latest technological solutions.
He noted that DEWA is working to produce 100% of Dubai's desalinated water using a mix of clean energy and waste heat by 2030, through three main strategic pillars encompassing clean energy, operational excellence, and diversification of water production technologies.
For his part, Loïc Fauchon presented the World Water Council's strategic vision for the future of global water governance, stressing the importance of strengthening multilateral dialogue and expanding frameworks for cooperation between countries to address growing water challenges.
