His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has revealed that the total number of electricity stations in Dubai at the end of the first quarter of this year reached 48,226 stations, comprising 47,830 electricity distribution stations and 396 main transmission stations, including 27 stations operating at 400 kilovolts and 369 stations at 132 kilovolts.
Speaking to Al Bayan, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: "DEWA's efforts to support the electricity infrastructure in the Emirate of Dubai continue. The Authority commissioned two new main transmission stations at 132 kilovolts, along with several transmission lines, during the first quarter of this year at a total cost of 254 million dirhams, in the Al Layan 1 and Al Barsha South 4 areas." He noted that through this expansion, DEWA is working to provide a service base that meets the growing demand for electricity services in the emirate, ensuring that the loads resulting from this increase are distributed and met through the new stations.
He added: "DEWA commissioned 400 new 11-kilovolt distribution stations during the first quarter of this year. The total number of new 11-kilovolt electricity distribution stations at DEWA reached 1,994 during 2025, compared to 1,530 during 2024, an increase of more than 30%, in line with the latest international standards in efficiency and operational readiness. The total number of electricity distribution stations reached 47,830 by the end of the first quarter of 2026."
H.E. Saeed Al Tayer explained that this continuous expansion in electricity infrastructure reflects DEWA's commitment to keeping pace with the accelerating growth in energy demand in the Emirate of Dubai, and to enhancing its capacity to meet future needs with high efficiency and flexibility while maintaining uninterrupted service continuity.
This diversity in the station network also supports the integration of conventional and clean energy sources, contributing to the achievement of Dubai's Clean Energy Strategy targets and the reduction of the carbon footprint.
He said: "DEWA operates 6 power generation stations at the Jebel Ali Production Complex — stations D, E, G, K, L and M — and station H at the Al Aweer Power Complex, in addition to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and the Hassyan Energy Complex."
He added: "DEWA provides an extensive infrastructure that supplies all points across the emirate with electricity in a stable, reliable and uninterrupted manner. Electricity transmission projects during 2025 included the extension of underground cables and overhead transmission lines totalling 250 kilometres, at a total cost exceeding 600 million dirhams. DEWA continues to reinforce and develop its supply lines using the latest digital technologies and smart solutions, enhancing load management efficiency, elevating the customer experience, and cementing its position as one of the world's most distinguished institutions in the fields of electricity generation, transmission and distribution."
