Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and General Security in Dubai, visited the summer programme 'Kulluna Rabban' (We Are All Captains), held in the Khawaneej 2 area. The programme is a personal initiative by Ghanem Al Mehairi, comprising summer courses under the title 'Ship's Engineer', in which school students aged between 10 and 18 participate as part of the community initiative 'Kulluna Rabban'.
The initiative aims to train 'young captains' in essential practical skills in the fields of maintenance and manual trades, reinforcing their sense of self-reliance and giving them a feeling of achievement. The course runs for two weeks.
Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim praised the initiative, stressing the importance of adopting and supporting such initiatives by the relevant authorities in the country, given their significant and positive impact on young people — keeping them occupied with beneficial activities during their free time and steering them away from the risk of delinquency, while equipping them with skills they need in their working lives and teaching them how to be self-sufficient.
Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim toured a number of the training workshops included in the programme, during which he listened to an explanation presented by Ghanem Al Mehairi on how students are trained to acquire skills in repairing electrical appliances, plumbing, carpentry, and other household basics, with those skills refined through practical training over the course of the programme.
For his part, Ghanem Al Mehairi said that the 'Kulluna Rabban' programme is a community and professional initiative targeting students aged 10 to 18, aimed at instilling a passion for manual work and a spirit of creativity by training them in basic home maintenance skills, promoting concepts of self-reliance, appreciation of manual labour, and the productive use of leisure time — all in ways that benefit the nation's youth and reinforce their sense of self-sufficiency while giving them a feeling of achievement.
