The board of trustees of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award held its second meeting for the new edition, chaired by Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai and chairman of the award's board of trustees, in the presence of board members: Aref Abdul Rahman Ahli, deputy chairman of the board of trustees; Dr Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Haddad; Dr Mohammed Suhail Al Muhairi; Matar Saeed Al Humairi; Mohammed Suleiman Al Mulla; Fatima Ibrahim Balrheif; and Hamda Mohammed bin Kalban.

The meeting featured a review of the key features of the award's new edition and a discussion of proposed updates to its categories and tracks, with a view to enhancing its inclusivity and keeping pace with the growing demand witnessed during recent editions — in light of the successes the award has achieved and the qualitative development it has undergone, which has been reflected in rising participant numbers and an expanding range of beneficiaries.

The board also discussed a number of development proposals aimed at introducing and updating several categories and broadening participation opportunities, so as to accommodate the increasing numbers of memorisers of the Holy Quran and extend the award's reach to various segments and groups, in line with its mission to encourage the memorisation of the Holy Quran and excellence in its sciences.

Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi affirmed that the board of trustees' meeting comes within the framework of periodic follow-up on the award's progress, and the board's commitment to reviewing performance indicators, examining achieved targets, and discussing upcoming plans and programmes to enhance operational efficiency and entrench the principles of governance and continuous development.
