Dubai Police General Headquarters, represented by the Positive Spirit Council, in cooperation with the General Department of Human Rights, the General Department of Police Centres, and the 'Thank You for Your Volunteering' team, continues its humanitarian and community initiative 'Zullan wa Ajran' (Shade and Reward), which targets workers as part of its ongoing efforts to promote the values of compassion and human solidarity and to entrench a culture of social responsibility.

In the second week of the initiative, the Positive Spirit Council organised its activities in cooperation with the General Department of Human Rights, Bur Dubai Police Centre, and the 'Thank You for Your Volunteering' team, in the China Railway — Marasi Street area, with more than 700 workers in attendance. A range of services and humanitarian initiatives were provided, reflecting the organising bodies' commitment to this group, which is an essential partner in the journey of development and construction. In addition, cold water, umbrellas, and meals were distributed, and awareness messages were delivered to enhance workers' knowledge and support their safety in the workplace, particularly during periods of high temperatures.

As part of the initiative's commitment to promoting occupational safety, workers were educated about the risks of heat stress, in line with the ongoing commitment to safeguarding human resources and providing a safe work environment, especially as summer reaches its peak temperatures. These efforts also align with the announcement by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation regarding the implementation of the midday work ban policy from 15 June to 15 September, which prohibits outdoor work and work in open areas from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., given that heat stress — the internal pressure and the body's biological response to adapting to heat — poses a risk that requires strict prevention measures and adherence to safety procedures.

Fatima Ahmed Bu Hujair, President of the Positive Spirit Council, affirmed that the 'Zullan wa Ajran' initiative embodies the deep human values upon which the United Arab Emirates is founded: respect for the individual, preservation of dignity, and the promotion of a spirit of cohesion among all segments of society.

She said: "At the Positive Spirit Council, we are committed to reaching workers at their sites and delivering initiatives that carry messages of appreciation and gratitude for their great efforts in building the nation.

'Zullan wa Ajran' is not merely an event, but a humanitarian message that expresses the values of loyalty and giving in which we believe, and reflects the spirit of cooperation among all partners in making these efforts a success."

She added: "Raising awareness of the risks of heat stress is part of our pivotal role in preserving the safety of the human element and protecting its field achievements, thereby ensuring a safe and sustainable work environment that protects workers and appreciates their efforts across all sites."

At the conclusion of the initiative, workers expressed their thanks and gratitude for this humanitarian gesture, which brought joy to their hearts, affirming that such initiatives reflect the humane and civilised face of the United Arab Emirates and its constant focus on people first.
