Dubai Municipality has taken first place in the International Excellence Award in the crisis management category, in recognition of its outstanding management of institutional communications and media response during the exceptional rainfall event that struck the emirate in April 2024.

The award was granted for the media response project accompanying the crisis, during which Dubai recorded, on 16 April 2024, rainfall totals that exceeded the usual annual averages in less than 24 hours. Throughout the event, Dubai Municipality managed the crisis with high media efficiency by providing accurate information and continuous updates, helping to maintain a clear picture for the public and media outlets.
The achievement highlights the institutional readiness that Dubai Municipality possesses in managing crises from a media standpoint through a proactive approach based on planning and integration of communication tools, embodying the efficiency of its institutional and governmental communications system — a cornerstone in strengthening community trust, consolidating transparency, and keeping the emirate's residents fully informed under various circumstances.
