The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has announced that its 'Dalook DXB' global prayer times application has achieved a landmark milestone since its launch two years ago, surpassing 1,035,000 downloads. The announcement coincides with the end of the Hijri year 1447, and reflects growing user confidence in the religious digital services the department provides, in line with the highest standards of accuracy and innovation.
Statistics show that the total number of sessions recorded by all users over the past year reached 187 million visits, at an average of 310 visits per user, as they made use of the app's various services. The application has also succeeded in maintaining weekly engagement with more than a quarter of a million users through push notifications about its features and ongoing updates.
The app has gained wide reach within the United Arab Emirates, where users exceed half a million, while the remaining half are distributed across various countries worldwide, led by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Sultanate of Oman. Significant uptake has also been noted in Bangladesh, India, Senegal, Algeria, Morocco, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
In terms of single-day statistics, the app recorded its highest usage during the most recent Ramadan, with 130,000 active users in one day, while on regular days it approaches 50,000 active users — a figure considered substantial in the world of specialised smart applications.
The 'Dalook' app is designed to provide accurate and reliable prayer times, Qibla direction, and the Hijri calendar for all cities worldwide, contributing to the enhancement of digital religious services and facilitating community members' access to them through smart platforms.
Dr. Hamad Mohammed Saleh, Head of the Prayer Times and Moon Sighting Division, affirmed that the success achieved by the 'Dalook' app reflects the growing trust it has earned as one of the world's leading digital platforms, providing precise Sharia and astronomical services in accordance with the highest technical standards.
The department confirmed that these results are in line with its strategic plans and the directives of the wise leadership towards building a pioneering government digital ecosystem, developing proactive smart services that contribute to user happiness, enhancing Dubai's leadership in community digital services, and embedding a culture of innovation in the emirate's government work.
