His Excellency Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, received from Dr Abdul Latif Al Sayyadi, an expert at the Archive and National Library at the Presidential Court, a copy of his doctoral dissertation, for which he was awarded a doctorate with distinction from Cairo University.
The dissertation is titled: "The Legal Regime of Canals Used in International Navigation — with a Special Study of the Feasibility of Constructing an International Navigational Canal Linking the Arabian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman."
The dissertation presents a comparative study of the legal regimes governing several of the world's most important international canals — the Suez, Panama, and Kiel canals — and devotes a dedicated chapter to examining the feasibility of establishing an international navigational canal linking the Arabian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman through the United Arab Emirates, which would provide an alternative navigational passage to enhance the security of international shipping and the continuity of global supply chains.
His Excellency extended his thanks to Dr Abdul Latif Al Sayyadi during the reception held in his office, commending the subject and significance of the dissertation and wishing him every success. Major General Ahmed Al Maqoudi, Director of the General Administration of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, attended the meeting.
