EDGE Group and Leonardo have announced details of their new joint venture, which will be responsible for designing, manufacturing and marketing advanced defence sensor systems and sensors, including airborne radars dedicated to next-generation stealth platforms, the Kronos Grand Mobile High Power HP radar, combat management systems, and multi-mission sensors for aircraft.
The venture will serve as a platform for marketing the M-346 trainer and combat aircraft and other defence capabilities in European and international markets, building on the existing cooperation between the two companies to combine industrial agility with access to global markets.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of EDGE Group, said that Leonardo possesses decades of expertise and engineering excellence in radar and combat management systems, while EDGE brings industrial capability, flexibility and market access, enabling these advanced technologies to reach customers at a faster pace.
He added that through this joint venture, the two companies will have what is needed to develop some of the world's most advanced sensor systems and sensors, in addition to commercial opportunities exceeding 4 billion euros over the next five years.
