Bee'ah, a leader in sustainability and innovation, and the Emirates Water and Electricity Authority (EWEC), through its development and investment arm, have announced the signing of a joint development agreement to operate and expand wastewater treatment projects in the emirate of Sharjah. The move is a strategic step aimed at strengthening water infrastructure, supporting sustainable development plans, and improving water resource management efficiency in line with the emirate's urban and population growth.

The agreement includes cooperation in operating existing wastewater treatment facilities and working to double their capacity, alongside developing sewage networks and the infrastructure required to support future expansions, ensuring the provision of more efficient and sustainable services.

Under the agreement, two specialised companies will be established to implement the project. The first will develop and execute expansion works, with equal joint ownership of 50% each between Bee'ah and EWEC's development and investment arm. The second company will handle the long-term operation, maintenance, and management of assets and facilities, with ownership of 60% held by EWEC's development and investment arm and 40% by Bee'ah.
