Abu Dhabi City Municipality has called on all members of the community to uphold the lofty national values and meanings of the flag of the United Arab Emirates by keeping it flying high, maintaining it continuously, and replacing flags that are damaged or have faded colours due to natural elements, wind, and dust — in order to reinforce values of respect and pride in the nation and preserve the city's civilised appearance.
The municipality confirmed that during an inspection campaign across all areas of Al Shahama, it observed a large number of damaged flags raised above some rooftops of houses, farms, encampments, and other locations in a manner that negatively affects the city's civilised appearance and projects an image inconsistent with the value, symbolism, and lofty meanings of the national flag.
Yesterday, through a post on its official account on the social media platform X, the municipality called on all citizens and residents to replace flags damaged by sunlight and wind with new ones that embody meanings of loyalty, patriotism, and belonging by ensuring the national flag is presented in its finest and most dignified form.
The municipality affirms its pride in the feelings of citizens and residents who are keen to fly the UAE flag above homes, villas, buildings, commercial centres, and public facilities, and looks with full confidence to strengthening the sense of social and national responsibility by cooperating with the municipality to preserve this national symbol, protect it from natural elements, and maintain it on a regular basis.
It noted that replacing faded or damaged flags with new, elegant ones that flutter with pride, beauty, and dignity is the responsibility of every individual and is the most sincere expression of national sentiment and loyalty to this cherished symbol.
