Hamad Al Kaabi, Director General of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, has affirmed the high level of coordination, readiness and professionalism of the teams at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, noting that this reflects the strength and resilience of the regulatory and operational framework in the United Arab Emirates. He also renewed emphasis on the importance of protecting nuclear facilities under all circumstances, in accordance with international standards and best practices.

This came during the Director General's visit to the Barakah plant to review the latest developments in the Authority's regulatory activities and to follow up on the plant's operational status.

During the visit, he was briefed on the latest operational updates concerning the four units at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, including planned refuelling activities and maintenance works. The visit reflects the Authority's ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the plant through its regulatory work. He also met with the teams who participated in the response to the incident that recently occurred at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, commending their efforts in handling the event, which contributed to maintaining the safety and security of the facility and protecting workers, the public and the environment.

During the visit, he also met with the Authority's resident inspector team, affirming the Authority's commitment to carrying out its regulatory duties effectively at the plant, and expressed his appreciation for their dedication and continued efforts in oversight to ensure the safety and security of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.
