The United Arab Emirates has condemned and denounced in the strongest terms the continued attacks targeting the premises of the Kuwaiti General Consulate in the city of Basra.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, stressed the UAE's categorical rejection of such attacks, affirming the necessity of protecting diplomatic premises, missions, and their staff in accordance with international laws and norms — in particular the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full immunity for diplomatic buildings and their personnel.
The UAE called on the government of the sisterly Republic of Iraq to fulfil its necessary and legal obligations to secure the consulate premises and its staff, to investigate the circumstances of these attacks, to ensure they are not repeated in the future, and to take all necessary legal measures to hold those responsible to account.
