A delegation from the UAE Intellectual Property Association met with Chen Hongbing, Director of the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in the areas of training and capacity building, developing specialised intellectual property programmes, exchanging global expertise and knowledge, and benefiting from international best practices to support the intellectual property ecosystem.

His Excellency Major General Counsellor Dr. Abdul Qaddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli, Chairman of the Board of the Association, affirmed during a meeting held on the sidelines of participation in the WIPO Member States Assemblies in Geneva — which continue until 15 July — that investing in capacity building and developing national competencies represents a priority for the Association, stemming from its belief in the importance of preparing qualified personnel capable of keeping pace with global developments in the intellectual property sector and enhancing the United Arab Emirates' competitiveness in this field.

For his part, Chen Hongbing affirmed the Academy's keenness to expand areas of cooperation with the UAE Intellectual Property Association through the implementation of specialised training programmes and the exchange of expertise, contributing to the development of competencies and the support of the intellectual property ecosystem at both the regional and international levels.

This meeting comes within the framework of the Association's commitment to strengthening its international partnerships with WIPO, contributing to the development of national competencies, supporting the journey of development and excellence in the intellectual property sector in the United Arab Emirates, and consolidating its standing in this field at both the regional and international levels.
