Under the directives of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, the United Arab Emirates announced an emergency humanitarian response worth 30 million US dollars to support civilians affected by the deteriorating situation in the city of Al-Ubayyid in North Kordofan state in Sudan.
The assistance will be delivered through the Emirates Aid International Agency, embodying the UAE's steadfast humanitarian approach and its ongoing commitment to the brotherly Sudanese people.
The response comes in the wake of the serious deterioration of humanitarian conditions in Al-Ubayyid and the surrounding areas, where the urgent needs of civilians and displaced persons for food security, healthcare, drinking water, and shelter are mounting.
The UAE affirmed the necessity of urgent and coordinated humanitarian action to ensure that life-saving aid reaches those entitled to it, particularly the most vulnerable groups.
The UAE reiterated its position that the protection of civilians in Al-Ubayyid and across Sudan must remain an urgent priority for the international community, stressing the importance of all parties to the conflict adhering to international humanitarian law, avoiding escalation in populated areas, and ensuring urgent, safe, and unimpeded access for humanitarian assistance.
