Etihad Rail has seen strong demand for passenger train ticket bookings through its dedicated digital app and website, with 5,000 passengers having reserved their tickets within just two days of reservations opening. The Etihad Rail digital app has risen to the top position among the most downloaded free applications in the United Arab Emirates.
Ticket reservations opened on the Etihad Rail digital platforms on 23 June, reflecting widespread public interest in the passenger train service ahead of the preliminary launch of operations between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on 30 June, marking a new chapter in the UAE's railway transportation journey.
In less than five years since the UAE announced its vision to launch a passenger train project as part of the "Projects of the 50," the project has moved from vision to tangible reality. Passengers can now plan, book, and manage their train journeys in advance with a seamless experience that guarantees high levels of comfort and flexibility.
Following the launch of services on 30 June 2026, Etihad Rail's passenger routes will expand to include the main Abu Dhabi–Dubai–Al Dhaid–Fujairah corridor from 30 September 2026, followed by the opening of stations in the Al Dhafra region and Sharjah in subsequent phases.
Azza Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Operations at Etihad Rail, said: "For years, we have all witnessed the national railway network advancing at a rapid pace with a clear vision, and today customers can use the app and purchase a ticket to be part of the passenger train experience."
Athra Al Mansoori, Chief Executive Officer of the Commercial Sector at Etihad Rail Passenger Services, said: "At Etihad Rail, we have ensured that every customer finds what suits them on board the passenger train, whether they are looking for the best price, flexibility in travel, or a higher level of comfort. Our options are designed to meet different needs."
To ensure a comfortable travel experience at an affordable cost, introductory ticket prices on the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route start from 55 dirhams in the Comfort class and 120 dirhams in the Premium class, with multiple ticket categories available offering varying levels of flexibility, allowing each passenger to choose what suits their needs.
Comfort class customers benefit from a modern and comfortable travel experience including guaranteed seats, free Wi-Fi, device-charging outlets at every seat, and luggage storage, while the Premium class elevates this experience through wider reclining seats, more legroom, and complimentary refreshments.
The passenger rail network is operated by Etihad Rail Passenger Services, a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Keolis, one of the world's leading passenger transport companies, combining extensive global expertise in railway network operations with a deep understanding of the UAE's transportation sector.
