The United Arab Emirates is continuing to bolster its urgent humanitarian response around the world — from the Philippines to Syria, through the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda — in a simultaneous effort that reflects its established approach of coming to the aid of those affected by natural disasters and health crises.

This effort comes within the framework of the UAE's commitment to a humanitarian approach based on rapid response and early recovery in disaster-affected areas. The country's wise leadership is determined to reach those affected under all circumstances, building on the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan — may God rest his soul — in humanitarian giving and global solidarity.

In this context, the UAE's response is evident across more than one humanitarian front around the world. Through the Emirates International Humanitarian Aid Agency, the UAE moved swiftly to provide urgent support to those affected by the Euphrates River floods in Syria, ensuring that basic relief and shelter needs of affected families are met.

The UAE's humanitarian assistance has helped provide essential support to thousands of beneficiaries and aided affected families in coping with the difficult living conditions imposed by the floods, alleviating the daily burdens they face.

Field teams from the Emirates International Humanitarian Aid Agency are conducting field visits and holding meetings with residents and relevant local authorities in the affected areas, directly assessing the conditions and humanitarian needs of families, to ensure that support reaches those who deserve it and achieves the greatest possible impact on the ground.

In the Philippines, the UAE is continuing its relief efforts to support those affected by the earthquake that struck the south of the country, which resulted in casualties, injuries, and widespread infrastructure damage. The response has included the provision of food baskets and drinking water.

The UAE's response plan for upcoming phases includes the distribution of more than 20,000 food baskets and 20,000 gallons of drinking water, meeting the needs of the province's affected residents and helping disaster-stricken families overcome the aftermath of the earthquake.

Her Excellency Loreley Pacquiao, Mayor of General Santos City, praised the urgent humanitarian assistance provided by the UAE to those affected by the earthquake in southern Philippines, affirming that this support reflects the UAE's deeply held humanitarian values and contributes to alleviating the suffering of families and children and meeting the basic needs of those affected.

UAE humanitarian assistance has also extended to the field of global health, through support for World Health Organization efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in Africa, within a vision that considers health security an integral part of global human security and drives efforts to strengthen epidemic response capabilities before they escalate.

The UAE contributed to international relief and logistics operations to combat the Ebola outbreak in both the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, in cooperation with international partners, through medical shipments and vital supplies that strengthened the capacity of health systems to confront the crisis.

Earlier this year, UAE efforts in the field of disaster response were also prominent, encompassing support for flood victims in Malaysia and Mozambique, and the provision of food and shelter assistance to Kenya, which is facing drought challenges — all within a consistent policy that places human beings at the heart of the country's humanitarian priorities.

These ongoing efforts reflect the UAE's leading standing in the field of international humanitarian and relief work, stemming from a firmly established approach that places people at its core and is grounded in the vision of its wise leadership to extend a helping hand to affected communities and strengthen their capacity for recovery.

Thanks to this approach, the UAE continues to consolidate a global model of humanitarian solidarity based on rapid response, effective partnerships, and sustainable development, contributing to the spread of the values of brotherhood and mutual support and entrenching stability in various parts of the world.
