His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), honoured outstanding DEWA employees who graduated from the 'Master's in Future Energy Systems and Technologies' programme, which the authority launched in 2019 in partnership with the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States.

Speaking at the honouring ceremony, H.E. Saeed Al Tayer said: "With the vision and guidance of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the State and Ruler of Dubai, may God bless him, the United Arab Emirates has established a pioneering development model based on building national capabilities and strengthening a knowledge-based economy, cementing its global leadership and keeping pace with future aspirations.

"From this standpoint, we at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) believe that human capital is the primary driver of sustainable development, and that preparing national talent and equipping them with advanced knowledge and skills is a key pillar in supporting the transition towards a sustainable green economy.

"In line with this vision, we continue to invest in developing our national workforce through specialised academic and professional programmes in partnership with leading global universities and academic institutions, ensuring they are provided with the latest knowledge and expertise in clean and renewable energy, and enhancing their readiness to meet challenges and seize future opportunities."

He added: "As we celebrate 193 graduates across 5 cohorts, we also celebrate a national achievement that falls within our pursuit of developing the capabilities and skills of the next generation of young leaders and innovators in clean and renewable energy technologies, according to a clear strategy and a defined roadmap to transform Dubai into a centre of excellence and innovation in new technologies. The programme enabled participants to study advanced subjects including artificial intelligence, machine learning, renewable energy production systems, cybersecurity, and more."

For their part, the honoured DEWA employees praised the 'Master's in Future Energy Systems and Technologies' programme, noting that it had equipped them with distinctive knowledge and expertise in clean and renewable energy and future technologies, and strengthened their professional and leadership capabilities, enabling them to contribute effectively to supporting DEWA's journey in innovation and sustainability, and achieving its strategic targets in building a more sustainable and prosperous future.
