Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Energy Council, presided over an Energy Council meeting yesterday morning at the Ruler's office, in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Department of Petroleum.

The council reviewed the latest developments in strategic energy sector projects, including solar power station projects, energy storage initiatives, and efforts to enhance energy infrastructure efficiency and ensure supply sustainability in line with the economic and developmental growth requirements of Sharjah.

The council also discussed expansion plans for gas sector infrastructure, including increasing gas storage capacity to bolster the flexibility of the energy system and raise its readiness to meet future demand efficiently and sustainably. It further followed up on progress in gas exploration and production projects and reviewed updates on the development of existing fields in the emirate.

In addition, the council reviewed efforts aimed at strengthening energy security and ensuring supply sustainability in a manner that supports economic development, benefits various vital sectors, and contributes to achieving the optimal use of natural resources in accordance with best practices and approved standards.
