Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the Judicial Council, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Judicial Department and the courts of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), at his office at the University of Sharjah. The MoU was signed by Judge Dr. Mohammed Al Kaabi, President of the Judicial Department, and Judge Omar Al Muhairi, Director of the DIFC Courts.
The memorandum provides for cooperation and information exchange between the two parties, and the exploration of initiatives and projects aimed at building and consolidating strong relations between them in support of the community.
Under the MoU, the two parties will cooperate to launch joint awareness initiatives or independent initiatives by each party separately, such as seminars and conferences aimed at raising community awareness, and will exchange media and marketing materials. It also encourages open and frank discussions and the exchange of views on the legal and judicial system, the regulation of lawyers, and ways to enhance the development of judicial talent, among other shared strategic objectives of the courts.
Pursuant to the memorandum, experts and advisers will be encouraged to deliver seminars, workshops, or training courses. The two parties will also work in close cooperation on matters of judicial jurisdiction and the mutual notification, enforcement, and execution of judgements.
