As international pressure on Israel over the war in Gaza continues to mount, the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution aimed at strengthening accountability for attacks targeting UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, amid concerns over escalating violence and low rates of prosecution for perpetrators of such attacks.
The move comes in the wake of a series of deadly attacks on UN personnel, including the killing of 7 members of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) following the outbreak of a new round of fighting between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah in early March.
