Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz decided on Saturday to halt attacks on Lebanon.

Israel's Channel 12 confirmed that "at the direction of the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister, the Israeli army has stopped its operations in Lebanon."

However, the decision does not include withdrawal from the territories Israel has occupied since last March.

The channel reported that the instructions came following "coordination between the political leadership and the United States."

It stressed that the army "will not withdraw from southern Lebanon."
