Iraqi media outlets, citing a security source, confirmed that a new campaign to pursue corrupt officials will be launched within hours.

The source said that "the campaign to combat corrupt officials is ongoing and has extended to provinces beyond the capital, Baghdad."

He added that "the campaign will reach its peak this evening with a new wave of arrests targeting state officials," noting that "the available information indicates the campaign will affect dozens of senior officials in the Iraqi state, including members of parliament, ministers, deputy ministers, and directors-general across various state sectors."

The Iraqi News Agency (INA) published on Sunday the names of those accused in corruption files who were arrested among members of parliament and officials, based on the confessions of Oil Ministry Undersecretary Adnan Al-Jumaili.

Senior sources, according to the agency, revealed the arrest of 47 accused individuals — including members of parliament and officials — on corruption charges.

The sources said that "operations to pursue corrupt individuals are continuing in Baghdad and the provinces."

The agency revealed the identities of 15 detainees in the campaign:

  • Muthanna Al-Samarrai, head of the Azm Alliance and member of parliament, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Ziad Al-Janabi, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Bahaa Al-Nouri, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Mohammed Al-Karbouli, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Alia Nassif, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Mohammed Jamil Al-Miahi, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Hassan Al-Khafaji, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Abdul Rahman Al-Luwaizi, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Mudhar Al-Karawi, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Hind Al-Abbasi, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Mohammed Farman Al-Jubouri, on corruption charges
  • Member of parliament Bushra Al-Qaisi, on corruption charges
  • Former member of parliament Mohammed Al-Saihoud, on corruption charges
  • Oil Ministry Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs Ali Maarij, on corruption charges
  • Ibrahim Al-Sumaidaie, on corruption charges
