US President Donald Trump said on Monday, in an interview with the Hugh Hewitt Show, that the United States will destroy Iran's "Picaxe Mountain" nuclear site, threatening that Washington will continue to strike the country with force.
Trump said in the interview with the Hugh Hewitt Show: "We're going to take out Picaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians to be ready."
He added: "We're watching Picaxe Mountain very closely. We don't see any activity there. They're not doing well on their nuclear situation. Every time we hear about it, we blow it up. So they don't like to talk about it. But we're probably going to give Picaxe a strike in a relatively short period of time."
The Picaxe Mountain site is located near Iran's Fordow uranium enrichment facility, which has suffered severe damage. It is a heavily fortified site containing two tunnel complexes buried at great depth, which experts assess to be beyond the range of the most powerful bunker-busting bombs in the US arsenal.
Trump announced earlier on Monday that the United States would reimpose a naval blockade on Iran in the Gulf and would ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open but for a fee, following further exchanges of missile and drone strikes between the two sides. Trump said on the Hugh Hewitt show: "We're going to hit them very hard tonight and we're going to hit them hard tomorrow. And there's nothing they can do about it."
