The US military announced it is carrying out a new round of strikes, a day after Iran attacked ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's official news agency reported power outages across parts of the Iranian city of Chabahar following the sound of explosions.
US Central Command said the strikes aim to degrade Iran's ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The command wrote in a post on X: "The United States holds Iran responsible for the unprovoked aggression it recently carried out against commercial vessels and their civilian crews sailing freely through a vital international maritime corridor."
