The ink on the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran had barely dried when Iran launched a drone attack on a cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, drawing an American airstrike in response.

US Central Command said its aircraft struck Iranian missile storage sites, drone facilities, and coastal radar positions, later releasing a blurry black-and-white video of an explosion marked as unclassified. A US official said the operation had concluded.

Iran said a projectile had fallen on an area surrounding a naval pier in the city of Sirik in southern Iran.

Under the pretext of retaliating for the American strikes, Iran launched a treacherous drone aggression against the Kingdom of Bahrain, drawing a broad wave of condemnations. The United Arab Emirates condemned the attacks as a flagrant violation of Bahrain's sovereignty and a threat to its security, with further condemnations following from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The United Arab Emirates condemned, in the strongest terms, the Iranian aggressive attacks targeting the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain with drones.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a communiqué that these aggressive attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the Kingdom of Bahrain's sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability.

The ministry expressed the UAE's full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain and its support for all measures aimed at preserving its security and stability.

Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the kingdom's condemnation, in the strongest terms, of the targeting of its territory.

In a statement, the Bahraini foreign ministry described the targeting as a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, a brazen threat to the security of its citizens and residents, and a shameless breach of international norms and conventions that prohibit attacks on civilian infrastructure and the terrorising of peaceful populations.

It said: "In denouncing this sinful aggression, the kingdom affirms that the continued aggressions of the Iranian regime, at a time when regional and international efforts are moving towards de-escalation, places on Tehran alone the responsibility for undermining peace efforts, and reveals an approach founded on destabilisation, the export of chaos, and the subversion of regional stability."

The ministry added in its statement: "Grounded in the kingdom's firm principles, the ministry reaffirms that peace is not built through intimidation, and security is not seized through aggression, and that Bahrain's resolve is firmer than any threat, and its national unity is more steadfast than those who believe that continued aggression will deter the honourable from their principles or diminish their determination."

The ministry recalled UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which the kingdom submitted on behalf of the GCC states and Jordan, and which received the support of 136 countries in an expression of collective international will. It affirmed that Tehran's persistent aggression constitutes a direct challenge to that international will, and that, having pledged a permanent halt to military operations and respect for the sovereignty of regional states under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed on 17 June 2026, its treacherous aggression reveals its contempt for the international community and for the commitments it undertook.

The ministry affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain retains its full legitimate right to defend its sovereignty, security, and stability in accordance with international law, and called on the Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of its resolution and holding the aggressor accountable.

For its part, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait's strong condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian aggression, describing it as a flagrant violation of Bahrain's sovereignty, a direct threat to its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents, and a clear breach of the rules of international law and the UN Charter.

Kuwait's foreign ministry affirmed in a statement that the continuation of these aggressions amid regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation represents a serious undermining of peace and stability efforts and a threat to the region's security and stability.

Egypt, for its part, condemned in the strongest terms the attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain, describing them as a violation of Bahrain's sovereignty, a threat to its security and stability, and an unacceptable escalation that undermines efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

Egypt affirmed in a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs that these attacks come at a time when regional efforts are advancing towards consolidating a path of de-escalation and stability, making it imperative to refrain from any actions that could inflame tensions or undermine efforts to promote regional security and peace.

Syria likewise condemned in the strongest terms the Iranian aggressions and what they represent as a brazen violation of Bahrain's sovereignty, security, and stability, and a threat to regional security.

Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed in a statement Syria's solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain and its full support for the sovereign measures Bahrain is taking to preserve its national security and territorial integrity.

In the same context, Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi expressed his condemnation and denunciation, in the strongest terms, of Iran's treacherous aggressions.

Al-Budaiwi noted that the Iranian regime's continued targeting of civilian facilities and vital infrastructure, amid international and regional efforts seeking to consolidate security, peace, and a resolution to the crisis, confirms its desire to undermine initiatives aimed at containing the crisis and obstruct all efforts towards achieving security and stability in the region.

Al-Budaiwi affirmed the GCC's support for all measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to enhance its security and safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
