Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the Arab League, expressed his categorical rejection and strong condemnation of Iran's continued pursuit of policies and practices that destabilise the region's security and stability, in violation of the principles of international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817, as well as the rules of good neighbourliness. This includes the repeated Iranian attacks on commercial vessels, which threaten the security and freedom of international navigation, and the continuation of criminal assaults targeting the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
In a statement issued by the Arab League today, the Secretary-General renewed his categorical rejection of any practices that infringe upon the sovereignty of Arab states and the integrity of their territories, and that constitute a threat to their national security and stability.
He stressed that no justifications can be accepted for these rejected and condemned attacks, affirming that the security of Arab states is indivisible, and that any violation of the sovereignty of any Arab state represents an unacceptable breach that demands a unified and firm Arab stance.
He renewed the Arab League's full solidarity with Arab states in confronting these aggressive attacks, and its support for all legitimate measures they take to defend their sovereignty, protect their security, and safeguard their peoples. He called on the Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities and take effective steps to halt these violations, ensure respect for international law, and preserve the security of international navigation, thereby contributing to the enhancement of security and stability in the region.
