Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the Arab League, condemned the Israeli army's demolition on Tuesday of an entire neighbourhood in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon.
In a statement distributed by the Arab League, Fahmy said the policy of collective punishment of civilians constitutes a flagrant and unacceptable violation of international humanitarian law.
The Arab League Secretary-General called on the international community and the UN Security Council to shoulder their responsibilities and stand against this expansionist tendency.
