Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed on Saturday, during a call he received from US President Donald Trump, that the state will assume responsibility for implementing the framework agreement reached with Israel under American sponsorship, according to a statement issued by the Lebanese presidency.
The statement noted that Aoun told Trump that "the Lebanese state will bear its responsibilities in implementing the framework agreement," expressing his hope that "the United States will contribute to preventing any violation of this agreement and ensuring that all agreed-upon obligations are fulfilled, particularly by pressuring Israel to withdraw from the territories it occupies in the south in order to facilitate the deployment of the army up to the international border."
