The United Arab Emirates has affirmed that imposing a fait accompli born of aggression does not establish stability, but rather sows new seeds of discord and conflict in the future, in a reference to Iran's attempts to assert control over the Strait of Hormuz.

His Excellency Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the UAE, said that "new geopolitical realities cannot be imposed on the Arab Gulf states as a result of treacherous aggression against them," adding on platform X: "Imposing a fait accompli born of aggression does not establish stability, but rather sows new seeds of discord and conflict in the future. This applies precisely to the Strait of Hormuz."

Meanwhile, a joint Gulf-US statement affirmed that achieving lasting peace and security in the region requires confronting all forms of Iranian threats, including its ballistic missiles, drones, and support for proxies in the region, stressing that any investment with Iran is contingent on its commitment to the memorandum of understanding and the final agreement, and on halting its destabilising behaviour.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed the United States' firm commitment to the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council states during the ministerial meeting between the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council yesterday in Manama, while the ministers renewed their strong commitment to the strategic partnership between the United States and the GCC.

The ministers welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran on 17 June, and emphasised the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, noting that unconditional and unrestricted freedom of navigation — including the right of transit passage guaranteed under international law — remains essential to regional and global security.
